How it works: cap figures are each team's reported 2026-27 total (NHL-roster cap hits plus dead cap) from the cap hub. A player on the NHL roster moves his cap hit; a minor-league contract moves a contract but no cap hit. Retained salary (up to 50% per player, at most 3 retained contracts per team, CBA Article 50.5(e)(iii)) stays with the sending team. Players whose cap hit isn't disclosed ("n/d") are left out of the totals and flagged. Not modelled: LTIR relief, bonus overages, proration, waivers and roster-size limits. Data updated 2026-11-04.
